Make a product demo video on a Mac

A good demo video shows one task from start to finish, with a calm voice that explains each step. Here's how to make one on your Mac, without rehearsing every click.

Plan it first

Before you record anything, answer three questions:

Two ways to make it

Let your agent make it

Ask Claude Code or Codex for the demo. It writes the lines and the clicks, and StageMaster performs them in your app while it records. To change something, change that line and record again. Step by step.

Record it yourself

Press record. After a three-second countdown, StageMaster brings your app to the front, and you use it as you normally would. Click the red timer in the menu bar to stop. Then type the lines you want spoken. More on voiceover.

Finish it in the editor

You can do all of this in the same window:

Then export an MP4, or upload it to YouTube from the app.

The StageMaster editor: the script's lines on the left, the recorded take with its subtitle in the middle, the voice settings on the right, and the voiced lines on the timeline below.
In the editor, the lines are on the left, the take is in the middle and the voice is on the right.

Tips for a clear demo

Try it on your own app.

Every feature is free. If you'd rather your videos didn't carry our name, a license takes it off.
StageMaster needs macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon.
